Dawn Kinney Miller

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I am currently licensed to practice in both Washington and California. I received my Bachelors of Science Degree in Music Therapy from Elizabethtown College, and my Masters of Social Welfare from the University of California, Los Angeles. I currently belong to the National Association of Social Workers and have certification as a Clinical Trauma Professional and a Clinical Telemental Health Provider. I have worked with both adults and children, and within mental health, substance abuse and medical settings. I have been trained in Trauma-Informed Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Behavior Modification, Systems Theory, Developmental Theory, Attachment Theory and Ego-Psychology. In working with clients I draw from all of these aspects of my training and frame my work with the client based upon their individual needs.  I completed my Havening Certification in September, 2021 and have found that by utilizing Havening with clients it greatly facilitates the work that we do together.

My work setting experiences are quite varied, with experience in outpatient therapy (through medical clinics, group practice and behavioral health agency work) as well as hospital settings, substance abuse treatment programs, and foster family agencies. This provides me with a wealth of knowledge and experience as I work with clients to address their own specific needs. Also because of my varied work experience (all ages, many different cultural groups, substance use issues and innumerable diagnoses) I find myself able to assist clients from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of symptom presentations.
